Equity Watch

How do I get the online quote of a company?
In the left panel in the homepage, you will see "Equity Watch". Type in the first few letters of the company and all companies starting with those letters will appear on screen.

Which Exchange quotes will be available?
Both NSE and BSE quotes are available. ". N" is the quote on the NSE and ". B" is the quote on the BSE.

In addition to the quotes do you provide any other information?
The quote section, in addition to the online quotes also provides the previous day's closing price, change in both absolute and percentage terms over last close, the day's high and low. 52 week high and 52 week low, the P/E ratio, the earning per share and the current traded volume.

Can I get information about the company from "Equity Watch"?
The quotes page in equity page provides you with fundamental information about the company. By clicking on the top panel in the quotes page, you can get information about the financial results, financial ratios, historic price, technicals and a brief snapshot of the company.

What does the snapshot contain?
The snapshot as the name suggests will provide you with the basic information about a company in a summarized form. It will contain the corporate office address, the registered office address, the industry the company is in, the name of the directors, the registrars and the auditors, the market lot for trading in the company, the key financials, the exchanges on which it is listed and a brief history of the company.

How comprehensive is the coverage of the company's financials?
Clicking on "Balance Sheet " in the top panel in the quote page will give you balance sheet data for the past three years, "Annual Results" will provide the summarized P&L of the company for the past two years, "P&L Accounts" will take you through the profit and loss account of the company for the past three years, the "Quarterly Results" gives the results of the last three quarters in comparison with the corresponding quarters in the previous years.

Can I get an analysis of the company's financial performance?
Click on "Ratios " and you can view the important financial ratios required for analyzing the company's performance ranging from the profitability margin ratios to debt equity ratio to current ratio.

Suppose, I want to find the historic price of a scrip, what do I do?
Click on " Historic Price" on the top panel of the quotes page. Enter the symbol of the company and the date on which you want to know the price. Click on " Get Price" and you can view the opening price, closing price, the high, the low and the volume traded on the day.

Can I join a discussion group on the company?
You can enter the discussion group by clicking on "Discussions" in the top panel in the quote page. This will take you to the discussion group on the company where you can read other viewpoints and post your own opinions about the company.

What is available in your technicals section?
The Technicals is the most important feature of "Equity Watch". Clicking on " Technicals" takes you to the technical page and you can view different charts from the "Normal chart" to "Candle stick". The charts can be viewed based on different time periods and you can give your own indicators.

Keep a Watch

What is 'keep a watch'?
'Keep a Watch' is located on the left-hand panel in our home page. It is a collection of a list of investment avenues, taxation laws and policies, insurance schemes and a host of miscellaneous articles on varied topics.

What does the 'Equity' page provide?
It contains articles and analysis of the latest trends and developments in the equity market. In the future this section will provide you with the opportunity to query about different scrips on the basis of a comprehensive list of parameters

What does the 'Mutual Fund' page offer?
The Mutual fund page currently offers incisive articles on the developments in the industry, the various types of funds and analysis of individual funds. WalletWatch will soon provide a daily updated list of Net Asset Values of all mutual funds along with their traded price and repurchase price.

What is there in the "Debenture Page"?
With India being the third largest debt market in the world, we seek to keep our investors updated on the developments in the debenture market through articles.

How do I find the information I require from the Debenture page?
An important feature of this page is the powerful query feature. The queryable items are company name, Coupon rate, type, and yield and redemption date. Use the drop down query options and the display boxes to generate your own customised query displays. You can also save your favourite queries for future use.

Do you have a section on fixed deposits?
Yes. Our FD page contains information and insights with respect to interest rates, credit rating, maturity of fixed deposits offered by NBFCs, manufacturing companies and banks.

Do you have anything on how to minimize my tax liability?
The "Tax Saving Schemes" page is designed with that objective in mind. The details of various schemes, which provide tax relief, are provided in this section.

Is there anything else on taxation?
The taxation section deals with the effect of the nuances of Income Tax Act on individuals. It also acts as a forum where eminent Tax experts will help clarify your doubts on the subject of personal income tax.

Does the site cover Insurance?
At present, our exposure to insurance is inclusive of articles giving a holistic view of the sector. In the future, we will be providing an in depth analysis of the insurance sector and the various schemes from Life Insurance Corporation and the General Insurance Corporation.

Can WalletWatch help me in making investment decisions with respect to bullion?
Our bullion section provides you with the latest developments in the gold market. We will soon be covering the Silver market, precious objects, paintings and antiques.

Where can I know more about Real Estate and the sources of finance?
Our section on others covers the Real Estate market. Although we predominantly focus on the investment side, we also understand the importance of sources of finance and hence, cover this aspect in the section marked 'Others". This section also covers a broad range of topics ranging from politics to economics, which have bearing on personal finance.

Discussions

How do I join the discussion group?
You can click on "Discussion" either in the top panel or in the left panel, which will take you to a page containing all the discussion topics. Clicking on "Browse" will take you to the earlier postings made and then to view any particular posting, just click on the subject. Clicking on "Post" will take you to the message box though which you can post your message.

How do I reply to a posting?
You can type your reply into the message box under the posting you want to reply to. Then just click on "Post."

Can I search for a particular author or subject or word under a topic?
Yes. Click on search and then type the word or author or subject you want to search on. Click on "find" and all postings, which match your conditions, will appear on screen.

Can I create my own topic for discussion?
Just mail us the topic you would like to create and the discussion topic will be created as soon as we receive your mail.

Chats

How do I get into the chat page?
Clicking on the 'Watchers Chat' icon on our home page will take you to the chat page. This icon is located at the bottom of the left hand panel on the home page.

How do I chat?
As you enter the chat page, you will find a variety of topics from which to choose from. Choosing a topic will take you to the chat window relevant to the topic chosen. Enter your name in the window and you can start chatting.

Can I chat on the topic I want?
You can chat on any topic you want provided it is relevant to Walletwatch. However, in order to ensure that your chat is productive, we advice you to mail the topic before hand along with the time convenient for you to chat on so that we can inform our investors and create a forum for you to chat . The mail may be sent to 'The Editor, Walletwatch.com'.

I am not very well versed in Finance, would I find it difficult to chat?
Walletwatch essentially seeks to cater to the needs of the layman investor in terms of his personal finance needs and interests. Therefore if there is any topic on which you are a novice or you want to learn more about all you have to do is mail an appropriately worded topic to us. For instance, if you want to learn more about 'Badla', you can send us the topic as 'The basics of Badla'or 'An introduction to Badla'

What are the topics on which I can chat?
You can chat on any topic you want provided it is relevant to the basic theme of Walletwatch, which is to maintain its character as a personal finance related site.

What kind of people can I chat with?
Although we cater predominantly to the lay investor, our site has been well appreciated by a cross-section of people who are experts in their relevant field. Therefore in essence you would be chatting with the kind of people you would like to. You could select from a business scion to a tax expert, a share broker, your favourite politician on the next Kargil or even your colleague at office.

When can I chat?
At present the chatting is confined to 7 PM to 7.30 PM on weekdays. However, as and when you inform us about your convenience and depending on a 'first come first served basis' we can provide for a suitable time.

Where do I go to see the reports?
This page can be accessed by clicking on 'Broker's Corner' which is located on the right hand panel of our home page

What kind of information will it provide me with?
Walletwatch seeks to maintain a basket of research reports from research agencies and broking companies. We act as a forum through which our investors get an opportunity to read the in depth analysis and studies, the agencies and companies have made. The reports may contain tips on any investment avenue, effect of changes in tax rules, new tax saving schemes, stock market analysis, insurance advice, debt market analysis and much more.

Daily Market Highlights

How can I access the 'Market View'?
The 'Market View' can be accessed by clicking on either 'Pre-Market View' or 'Post Market View' as the case may be which is located on the centre of our home page.

What does the market view provide?
The market round up gives a holistic analysis of the BSE Sensex. The 'Pre market View' in the morning provides you with an overview of how the market has performed hitherto and on the basis of an analysis, a prediction of how the Sensex will move for the day. The 'Post market View' on the other hand gives you a vivid account of how the market performed for the day along with incisive analysis of the causes.
